If you love architecture, be sure to visit Taliesen West. It is located in the desert foothills of the McDowell Mountains, and it was one Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home, studio and architectural campus. On the grounds of his home- turned architectural wonder, Wright and his students created theaters, apartments and studios. Their objective was to use the natural surroundings of the Sonoran Desert, so many of what visitors will see in this National Historic Landmark is buildings created out of the rocks and sand.

Tourist have a few guided tours to chose from, each focusing on different aspects. “The Behind the Scenes” tour is an interesting way to get to know more details about Frank Lloyd Wright that also provides an opportunity to enjoy eating in the Taliesen West dining room. A unique way to experience the property is to take the “Night Lights Tour”, where you can enjoy the magic of the desert as well as the spectacular architecture.
